MEADVILLE, PA — The Emlenton Water Bottling Co. has once again been ordered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to halt production at its plant and recall all water bottled since May 22, according to a June 12 DEP press release.
The plant was barred from bottling water back in May when an inspection revealed two violations, including low chlorine levels and the need to rebuild the plant’s water filters. On June 11, the DEP received a tip that the bottling company was in operation and producing water, which prompted the recall of the labels Emlenton Pure, Essential HO and Extreme HO, according to the press release.
The DEP said its newest order requires the plant to remain out of production until notified in writing that production may resume.
