Nestle Waters has recalled its one-gallon Nestle Pure Life purified drinking water as a result of possible contamination in the US.
The threatened water, which is limited to stock sold in Shop-Rite stores in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, is dated 5 May 2008 with the code ‘050508126WF024’, the company said today (25 June).
The product in question may contain a diluted form of a common food grade cleaning compound that results in a bitter and sour taste, the company said, which could pose a potential health concern if ingested in large quantities.
No illnesses have yet been reported and around 150 one-gallon bottles are said to be implicated.
Shop-Rite has removed any remaining affected product from its stores and warehouses.
