PITTSBURGH - Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens says it wants to reduce pollution from plastic bottles and so will no longer sell bottled water.
Officials say they are making an "eco-conscious decision," and will offer corn-based compostable cups and sell reusable plastic bottles for filtered water. Officials say the corn-based cups will biodegrade within 50 days and take up less room in landfills.

Phipps was selling bottled water for $1.75. Its reusable bottles will sell for $2.25. Phipps also banned the use of bottled water at all meetings and events in its buildings and on its grounds. - AP
